Points In Focus

A Grime 4 Da National Health Action Party

Lately I've become thoroughly distracted by dubstep and intrigued with grime. I've often thought that Mozart and the other great composers, if they were around today, would probably like rave, house and dubstep and surely Shakespeare would have bopped to a hip hop beatin slamin rhyme and grime.

Anyway yesterdays blog post about the new National Health Action party got me thinking about how to get the word out about this new political party, so here then is my take on the NHS, the political big wigs and why I will give my vote to the National Health Action party if a candidate stands in my local area...

The N to the H to the S

come on Cameron confess
department of health
more like department of wealth
and pri-va-tis-a-tion

The nation and it's health care
come on Cameron confess confess
cos it don't seem like you care

If you go to hospital
beta say a prayer
cos you may come out
in worse state o repair

Repair repair
the N to the H to the S

If you think this is radical
take some time out
take a sabbatical
but you beta not get ill
beta not get a chill

Chill, chill how can I chill?
when the N to the H to the S
is bein dis-pand-ed

S to the A to the V to the Eeee
the N to the H to the S
so I'm gonna
V to the O to the T to the Eeee
for the National Health Action party

Action action (FAST)
will I get health satisfaction
if I
V to the O to the T to the E
for Miliband
no band of brothers
stabbed his bro in the back
what's his mo think about dat?

Action action (FAST)
will I get health satisfaction
if I
V to the O to the T to the E
for Clegg
(SLOW) "I made a promise
I broke it
I'm sorry"
don't get me started on that

Action action (FAST)
will I get health satisfaction
if I
V to the O to the T to the E
for Cameron
couldn't even remember his daughter
left her in the pub
his daughter
his daughter
couldn't even remember his daughter
like he oughta.

So spread this a capella
round on the web
lay a beat to this rhyme
make sure it's in time
get the word out
get the word out
if you have to shout
then shout it at loud
say it proud

There's a new party on the block
and it's called
the National Health Action party
and to the
disbanding of the
N to the H to the S
it hopes to put a stop. (SAY STOP ABRUPTLY)

It is hoped that this page will become a website in it's own right. This section has been created for anyone who has a grievance either incurred through the "justice" system - the courts either civil or criminal, which obviously includes corrupt judges, I have come accross 8 judges on the Western circuit and only Deputy District Judge Tennant was incorruptible. Perhaps you suffered misfeasance (corruption from an official in a public body for instance a council) well if you have fee free to contact the Blandford Buzz so that your case can be published on this page. Of course it may be that you suffered ill treatment at the hands of a police officer, again your experiences shared will be taken seriously by this website, so please make contact...

Job Discrimination Against Teenagers

I have just visited the Job Seekers Direct website this morning and clicked on the relevant boxes, so that jobs in the Blandford Forum area would show in the sites search results - this following job advertisement caught my eye...
Receptionist
Description
You must have previous reception experience and be well presented. Reception duties as required.
How to apply ...

You must have previous reception experience, got me thinking about the fact that this inadvertently by default actually excludes young school leavers and their slightly elder counterparts, from ages 16 to about 18 and probably even up to the age of 20, 21 from even being able to apply for this job and any such job that insists on experience.

Youth unemployment statistics show that between June - August this year that there were over  957,000 young people age between 16 - 24 that were out of work. An employer insisting on experience does absolutely nothing to help rectify the employment woes of this ever increasingly vulnerable generation.
Now I know that employers have a right to employ who they wish but unfortunately the must have previous employment prerequisite I would have thought from a laypersons perspective is surely a breach of human rights.
One other point that has sprung to mind is how hard can reception work be? most school leavers are a dab hand when it comes to computing and all things technological, most young people are bright and bubbly, they can answer a phone call with friendliness, ease and good cheer, how difficult can filing, photocopying, scanning and typing on a keyboard, logging information and general aspects of office work be? The answer is, this type of work is relatively easy, therefore this advertisement and countless others like it, is downright YOUTH AGE GROUP DISCRIMINATION and the government should be ashamed of itself for allowing this to go unchecked.

I noticed another job on the Job Seekers site, for the Blandford area, that is relevant to my query and objection which reads as follows -

Carers For Disabled Children

At Cool2Care we're helping to improve the lives of disabled children across Dorset by providing flexible support services that enrich the lives of the families we work with. Personal Assistants support the families on a part-time, flexible basis. The work is fun, flexible and highly rewarding. What's more it can fit around existing commitments of work or study. Hours can be unsociable. In return we offer the opportunity to make a real difference to a young persons life. Training is an integral part of our pre placement procedures which include enhanced CRB and employment reference checks.Cool2Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of disabled young people. The employer has claimed an exception under the Equality Act 2010.

Now one can understand if a child, teenager, young person or anyone for instance who has a disability requires a person of a certain gender to look after them and attend to any of their personal needs, then of course it is appropriate that a girl should have a woman care for her etc. So in cases like this then exceptions under the Equality Act 2010 are fair and valid.
The difficulty however that arises when an employer either deliberately or unintentionally discriminates against a young person who obviously on the balance of probabilities wont have previous experience is that exceptions under the equality act 2010 can not (surely?) incorporate the exclusion of young people age 16 years + who have left school, from the work place ( forgive me, I am yet to read the relevant parts of this act, as I am very pressed for time today but when I have a chance I shall take a look and see what it says) because if the equality act did allow for age related work exclusion of 16 - 21 year olds, then it would contravene the European Convention on Human Rights Article 14 Which is Freedom From Discrimination. Surprisingly this protocol does not specifically mention age discrimination but the loophole here (I hope) is in the wording of this part of the convention...
"The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Convention shall be secured without discrimination on any ground such as sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status".
"Such as" therefore should be suffice to allow age discrimination to be incorporated into Article 14.

Part 4 - Therefore to sum up, of course I'm a layperson of average intelligence and we all know that masters of the law have well - masters degrees - but the fact is that it doesn't take an exceptionally high IQ to conclude that not enough is being done to help this countries young population secure any job - let alone a half decent one - in the highly competitive job market of today and the future, where demand outweighs supply. So it is absolutely essential to put certain safeguards in place in regards to UK/English employment laws and UK/English equality acts, to ensure that Article 14 is not swept under the carpet when it comes to promoting the employment opportunities of this countries young people.

Blandford Buzz says "Yours views on young people being discriminated against in the job market, will be very much appreciated, you can use the comments box below".
