Rumpole And A Court Case And I
Hi, I'm a bit late in the day with posting this short (well it was when I first began writing it !) but very sweet like bee's honey, blog post. I've been buzzing around today distracted by this and that, including preparing court work for a small claims case that is due for trial in just over a months time. I thought it would be a cinch to come up with a brilliant and masterful opening speech as I will be a litigation friend (lawyerless) to keep costs down... but alack alas, my mind went completely blank, so I didn't know which keys to tap away at on the computer keyboard. I've already distracted myself with other less pressing tasks over the past few days, probably in a subconscious attempt to delay the inevitable time consuming preparation that the final hearing for my claim will entail.
After uming and oohing and much not knowing what to doings (poetry for a bumble bee, now thats good!) I came up with the bright idea of checking out some real life court room videos on YouTube. I watched several court room footages, though none of them particularly moved me to start off my court opening and write the mother of all court room speeches...
I was just about to log off YouTube when I happened upon an eighties BBC TV drama called Rumpole of The Bailey (I've worded this I happened upon an eighties BBC TV drama called Rumpole...to make it look like I'd never heard of Rumpole before, in an attempt to appear seem younger than I really am, though it hasn't worked as I've shopped myself in - I hope this isn't the beginning of a personality disorder, what with taking on the persona or beeona of a bumble bee !!!)
This particular footage from Rumpole, which surely deserves the title of best and most poignant court room scene in British TV history, shows Rumpole...heck no I wont spoil it for you, I've embedded it here below. Oh yeah before I forget, I did manage to come up with an opening court room speech, though it is far less than spectacular in fact my said speech drafted so far, is decidedly underwhelming but in my defense (pun on purpose) I'm a lay person. Right I've got some spare time on my hands, so I'm going to make myself a quick cuppa and watch some more Rumpole clips on YouTube, as I can trust good old Rumpole to save the day for me or at least my court presentation...'til I write and You read again...x
P.S. Due to my preparation for the said court claims, I will be publishing articles on this blogsite on the balance of probabilities (an intentional court room pun) after 19:00hrs...x
