The Shillingstone Railway Restoration Project - Part 1

I was absolutely thrilled when a friend of mine told me that the railway station @ Shillingstone, in Dorset, England, is in the process of being brought back to life, like so many who were born after the trains and railways were done away with in many parts of Dorset, I was always bewildered as to why the railways @ Shill (Shillingstone), Stur (Sturminster Newton), Blandford and Spetisbury etc etc, were abandoned in favour of four wheel transportation??? puzzling...

Earlier this month, on Saturday the 8th of December, I decided it was time to stop thinking and to start doing, to walk the walk not just talk the talk and all that, so I ventured to the village of Shillingstone and it's days of olden and days of golden railway station...

There's so much to see @ the Shillingstone Railway Restoration Project, these photographs don't do the project justice by half. The Shillingstone Railway Project is well worth a visit, whether you're local to Shillingstone or live in Blandford or elsewhere in Dorset, or even if you are from further a field, do pop in, you'l love it and the volunteers are friendly...x
