"It was a cold February day, about 6 months after my partner had been accidentally shot at the Police training shooting range but that's another story - now he's knee-capped and in a wheel chair, damn shame, best partner I ever had. I was walking down Sheep Market Hill when a boot on a wall caught my eye, I wanted to walk by, I wasn't on duty but I did my duty, I'm a detective after all and I always sleep with one eye open. I approached the boot, on closer inspection I could clearly see the boot was a man's, was for the right foot and had been worn. I wanted to remove it from the moss covered wall but I decided to leave it, even though there was a chill in the air I didn't have my leather gloves, a detective can never mess with evidence. I cased the roundabout area and kept an eye out for any guy that might only be wearing one boot but I didn't spot a man of that description and I didn't find the matching boot. I'm a detective and I never completely rest during a case I haven't cracked - while the mystery of the missing Blandford boot remains unsolved, I sleep with both eyes open, the missing boot must be found...".
